I, aunt, I love like a mother

The United World Aunt Day was celebrated in the United States. But does our society really recognize its role? Often the aunts without their children love those of the brothers or sisters as second mothers but their love is accepted? We asked one of them
For several years he tried to become a mother, with all of herself. Together with her partner she has twice been used for in vitro fertilization but without success, so at 39 Flora, grown up in Turin, had to come to terms with the idea of not being able to fulfill her dream

"As a woman - says Flora who is now 61 years old - at the beginning it is a matter of having to accept a sort of mourning and for me it was not easy, that sense of emptiness never wanted to go ". Then in her life Stefania and Andrea arrived, her brother's children, two nephews who introduced Flora to the boundless love.

In the United States on July 24, the World Aides Day was celebrated , conceived by Melanie Notkin, 47, founder of the PANK network (Zie Professioniste senza Figli).

While in the past all the housewives were together, together with the children of the family, over the years things have changed: every family is locked inside its apartment and the children live only the education of their parents. And the aunt without children, once a fundamental figure in growth, comes, often but not always, treated as a non-main figure in the path of the grandchildren.

Flora, who has become an aunt at the age of 27, has heard people say "if you do not have children you do not know true love"or even "a mother is more suited to raising children", phrases that still fit the woman in the role of mother at all costs.
