I've Gone Logo!
[nggallery id=1]
Dear Readers,
I've always loved my name (Thanks, Mummy!) but now I love the way it looks in an original logo designed and illustrated by Jackie Honikman.
Some have wondered how I got to this final iteration of my name in type and I'm happy to share the process.
You might ask why I even need a logo, especially since I already have the Savvy Auntie logo. Seems a little logo loco no? Well, while I am the face (and founder) of the Savvy Auntie brand, I am also a lifestyle expert, author, spokesperson and speaker and wanted a brand signifier to connect the dots.
Once I decided to create a logo, I was confident I wanted it to have a connection to the Savvy Auntie brand, just as I am interwoven in the brand. The branding of Savvy Auntie is "Playful Luxury" which represents the audience: women who are playful with their nieces and nephews, but can afford to treat themselves well too (because they generally don't have their own kids to support). Then, I wanted the colors to connect to the Savvy Auntie brand as well. If you look closely at the logo, it's ombre - reddish to pink, much like many design elements found at SavvyAuntie.com.
The type is illustrated both by hand and electronically to give a 'handwritten marker' feel. It's relatively thick to connote power, while the writing implies an approachability.
It was tested in four-color (the pink ombre) as well as black and white. This by the way, is one of a number of similar logos that were designed during the process, some a little more 'hand drawn' looking and some a little lighter in color.
I love the logo and to quote my friend Kelly Samardak, it looks like me 🙂
XOXO,
Auntie Melanie
