What I Didn’t Read This Summer…
Dear Readers,
While I did get to read a bit this summer, I spent most of it completing the writing for my manuscript: The Savvy Auntie Guide to Life. Because I felt like I missed out on some great summer reads, I asked my Twitter Followers what their favorite read of the summer was. The responses were really interesting - mostly because folks were passionate about titles I'd never heard of before (including The Help which got two votes)! @SusanW included The Happiness Project by the amazing and talented @GretchenRubin which I read earlier this year and @kristy included the Stieg Larsson series that has been taking over the best seller lists. Otherwise, I have some new, compelling choices:
@penguinization: R.J. Ellory - A quiet belief in angels
@Goingwiththeflo: Try The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry "a delicately crafted mystery about generations of somewhat magical women in Salem, MA"
@azureacademia: If I Stay by Gayle Forman Y/A lit and SOOOOOO good.
@KathieTaylor: Favourite book of the summer was The School of Essential Ingredients - didn't want it to end.
@the_otherlisa: Kindred by Octavia Butler
@RMZFarrell: mistress of the revolution by catherine delors - excellent!!!
@OpenBookJen: 'Autobiography of an Execution,' followed closely by 'The Help' with honorable mention for 'The Girl Who Fell From the Sky.'
@kristy: The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and then The Girl Who Played With Fire. Big winners!!
@kelpdesigns: The Help
@EryneO: Favorite book this summer "Sarah's Key"
@SusanW: It's a tie: The Happiness Project, and The Wishing Year.
@lizscherer: Little Bee. Hands down.
@maryellenTV: Bitter is the New Black and My fair Lazy by Jen Lancaster I laughed out loud through both of them
